From June 4 to July 14, 2014
Ca’ Pesaro and Palazzo Fortuny

“12”, from the number of the designers involved, is the name of the exhibition, realised by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and Glas Italia, which will take place concurrently in Venice at the prestigious Venetian museums of Palazzo Fortuny and Ca’ Pesaro Galleria Internazionale d’Arte Moderna.

The aim of the show is to see the designed object through different eyes restoring it to its original function. In fact, in both museums some items of furniture conceived and designed for Glas Italia by the most famous international designers will be on display: from Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec to Piero Lissoni, from Michele De Lucchi to Nendo, from Jean-Marie Massaud to Naoto Fukasawa, from Ron Gilad to Johanna Grawunder, from Jasper Morrison to Tokujin Yoshioka, from Elena Cutolo to Ettore Sottsass.

Visitors will be able to admire the works on display, but they will also be invited to consciously enjoy and appreciate the “objects of design” scattered around the museum.

The idea of the museum as it is now conceived is a union between art and architecture, where the link between the two disciplines has faded in the quest for the most complete cohesion from a visual perspective.

The idea stems from the main material of glass which is presented in several ways bringing together concepts of space and content in completely different ways with products created by the talent of some of the most influential names of classic and contemporary design. Installed at the International Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Ca’ Pesaro in the entrance hall and first floor with a rich collection of the palace of Longhena and also on the ground floor of the Palazzo Fortuny, the pieces are displayed not merely as works to admire but also as objects of specific use to make the museum a physical living space to engage visitors as they walk through.

Not site specific, not works on site, just objects on a production line.
